At some point in time, and hopefully before something reckless is attempted by the president, we are going to have to know the whole truth about the 2016 election. We just can’t have foreign governments influencing our elections, because it is our free and fair elections that have defined America – and since 1776.
I am herein making a plea that the investigative process to be put on a fast track, with a goal to reach conclusion within 60 days, if at all possible. Campaigning for the 2018 election will begin soon – very soon, and Russian intervention will happen again if we don’t identify the problem and eliminate it. Defending against espionage is like fighting a cancer. You have to know what kind of cancer it is to fight the maligned cells. And we have to know who the bad cells are and what they did – so we can make them go away.
Because I went to school with Trump and was subjected to a similar ethos from my father, I was one of the first to say Donald Trump was in bed with Russia. To me it was clear when he said ” Russia, if you are listening” on the campaign trail. But I also surmised money laundering evidence when he declared bankruptcy in Atlantic City.
Now at last, the media and investigation is catching up to the truth. Way too slow. There has been so much damage and cost to America and Americans due to this slowness. As of January 2018, The Russian contact/collusion/conspiracy trail has undeniably reached the White House, Trump, his family and its administration. Way too many of the president’s advisors and cabinet members are either under suspicion, been indicted or have pleaded “guilty” and are working with the Special Prosecutor.
It’s been pretty obvious to many of us all along that something does not feel right about Donald Trump. I don’t care what “side” you have been on. Does this feel right to you? Answer that and then ask yourself what we should be doing.
Trump, a true don, has always been in on everything his subordinates and family members have done for him. We cannot assume or even make leeway for Trump not knowing what his people are doing for him. And if he really was ignorant of all this, that’s gross negligence – and that’s not a quality in a president that we need.
Trump keeps saying and will continue to say “no collusion”. That is the classic “Mafia don” alibi for murder, ” I didn’t do it, I didn’t know he did it”. Of course, the dons don’t get their hands dirty … but they order the hits and are culpable. No soldier in a criminal organization takes serious action without telling the don or they risk their own lives. They swear allegiance to the don, and that is exactly what Trump thinks he is – a don. In his unattached imagination – he is a don.
At some time, Donald Trump had not signed that Russian sanction bill sitting on his desk for months. It was his political benefit to sign it (and ours). And yet, he did not because he could not. Trump is suborned. And the GOP does nothing about it because their leaders are guilty of the same crimes. They all have dirt on each other. That’s why they swear allegiance. “Thick as thieves” is apropos.
Trump and his soldiers colluded with Russian spies to win the election – and now all are suborned and are forced to side with the Russian political agenda ( not ours) as payback one way or another. If they don’t, Putin can leak the full unabashed truth about what he knows and totally sink Donald Trump and the entire Trump GOP. What would Putin care?
So this president cannot serve faithfully as a US president. He can’t, even if he wanted to- and there’s never been a shred of evidence that he has wanted to or capable of serving anyone faithfully. This is exactly how the greedy, the over-their-head stupid and/or the unwittingly suborned become the blackmailed.
And this is the hardest part. It would be one thing if it were only Trump. But the entire executive brand may have been suborned.
Regardless of our political affiliation or lack thereof, what we now have as American citizens, is a thoroughly dangerous security crisis. These are now practical solutions to our dilemma.
#1 – I really think that Trump should be stripped of all powers until he shows his taxes. That at least would show a willingness to cooperate. He’s not going to supply it anyway. He’d rather step down than show his taxes, and I’ve been saying this since the day he was elected. He’s been in bed with Russian money laundering since the 1980’s and his cash cow – the casinos. Reason: tax avoidance.
There is currently neither enough confidence in Donald Trump, or in any of Trump’s cabinet members to efficiently run our government in a way that is truly focused on improving or protecting the lives of ordinary Americans. Nor are we assured that all or most of the executive branch members are not part of a suborned group of unwittingly Russian-aligned politicians, to whom we have just given the keys to our weapon systems. This is foolish and very dangerous!
We have way too much at stake here to gamble on Trump’s claims of innocence – or fake media. Both citizen and president Trump have repeatably shown they can’t be trusted to be honorable. The facts we know don’t add up any longer to most Americans.
We really can’t afford all this bickering anymore. It’s shameful and wasteful. In one year we have become the total laughing stock of the planet’s first-world countries.
And now, with Trump visiting Putin, we have the puppet being called by his master. Putin and Trump coordinated to fix the election, Trump will visit him privately and somehow the GOP say nothing? I know why Dem’s are fairly quiet about Trump seeing Putin. The optics will be a puppet visiting his master. It won’t help Trump’s popularity. So I get that. What I don’t get is why the GOP is quiet. Like I said: maybe they are all suborned. And that should have all Americans worried.
Until the Mueller investigation is all resolved, Trump’s war powers should immediately be taken away, for obvious reasons. Congress must now have to sole power to make war during the FBI investigation. The sheer numbers of people in Congress will serve a safety valve in this interim period. American safety must be an extra high priority now. We know that he knows that war tends to shut down internal investigations. A war made to keep him in power cannot be ruled out. We see they are capable of doing anything for their own interests. If he engaged with Putin to win an election ( and Trump did say ” what does it all matter if I don’t win?”) he can not be trusted at all.
We can’t have a suborned executive branch. And that may be the case. Time is not our friend here.
Our vote is the heartbeat of the spiritual being called American democracy. November 6th 2018 is our new Independence Day.
