Take Heart American Women. Kavanaugh Can Be a Two-Year SCOTUS. How FDR Would Have Handled This.

4-horesemenTake heart American women and men of good conscious. This is how FDR would have handled the same basic problem we have today. We CAN DO THIS too! Just make sure you VOTE OUT EVERY GOP politician at every level of this government next month. They deserve to be completely rebuked.

Then, when we regain the executive branch, and that is certainly coming now, we can do this. Kavanaugh can be impeached or his weight diluted by adding two justices. Two ways to deal with this.

And yes, we do fear that becoming a dictator may be what Kavanaugh is all about. However, there is NO LAW stating it has to be 9 JUSTICES! It can be 11 just as easy, and in fact, more is better in this case. The GOP has forced us to do this with their heartless ramrodding of laws and tax breaks for the rich that the MAJORITY of Americans DO NOT WANT!

The “Four Horsemen” was the nickname given to four conservative members of the US Supreme Court during the 1932–1937 terms. They consistently opposed the New Deal agendas of President Franklin Roosevelt. They were opposed by the more liberal “Three Musketeers”.  Chief Justices Charles Hughes and Justice Owen Roberts controlled the balance, making the nine.

In the 1935 term, the Four Horsemen, together with Roberts and Hughes, voided the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933 along with the Federal Farm Bankruptcy Act, the Railroad Act, and the Coal Mining Act. Americans were suffering from the Depression and needed the help FDR wanted to create.

The result of this dynamic was a steady drift towards crisis with the Court. The 1935 SCOTUS was labeled by Justice Stone as “one of the most disastrous courts in US history”. New Dealers decried the Court’s actions promoted an “economic dictatorship”.

It was the Horsemen striking down FDR’s New Deal legislation that led FDR to announce a unique court-packing scheme, a proposal made in February 1937 to just appoint more Justices in order to change the composition of the Court. There was (and still is) nothing in the Constitution that says it has to be nine justices. Soon after FDR’s strategy was announced, it was rendered unnecessary when Justice Roberts, who had supported the Four Horsemen on several decisions during the 1935-36 term, sided with the Three Musketeers in a landmark minimum wage case in March 1937. The court balance literally changed in under 30 days – and America was saved.

FDR was a warrior, willing to do think outside-the-box to fight for democracy. FDR’s creative strategy made the Four Horsemen’s union seem doomed, and they buckled to public pressure. That lesson must be re-learned right now.

We have to begin to tell the GOP and ourselves that American Democracy will prevail regardless of how the SCOTUS appointment goes – or does not go. If we take back both houses, we can make it ten or even eleven justices. Nine is not in the Constitution. It’s totally up to Congress! Welcome back Merritt Garland! And if it takes FDR’s court-packing idea to reset democracy, we should start talking about that ASAP for good reasons.

First, FDR’s court-packing idea provides hope for people on the right side of history and will help bring them to the polls. Nothing is worse than despair to make voting seem like a waste of time. But it also promotes a sense of impending doom for those on the wrong side of history. If regardless of what the GOP does now to break the USA, (Gerrymandering, tax breaks for the rich, tariffs, breaking health-care, stoking racism, polarizing us, working with our enemies, etc.) it can be undone in a Democratic Congress, the GOP will get the message that maybe they should not make themselves look so bad for trying. We may even influence people to break ranks with Trump if they know their actions are ultimately doomed.

And of course, in a Democratic Congress Trump will become as malleable as Silly Putty. It’s clear his only MO is self-preservation, and we will hold all the prosecutorial cards when we control both houses. So I can see him flipping on the GOP to save his hide if we take back Congress. Everything really depends on that.

Spread this memo around in your own way, please. It’s a bit of a history lesson, but it teaches us what has been necessary to defend democracy and that what we are experiencing today is not really new.

Also, note. Though the Four Horsemen ultimately broke ranks, they did so only after FDR made it clear he would pack the court to defend democracy. That’s when they realized they were wasting their time. And that’s when they quit. The same can happen now. The GOP must be made to know this – they cannot overrule the will of the American majority.

So let’s start talking about ten and even eleven justices if the GOP is bent on ramming its unpopular agendas down our throats.

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 is America’s new Independence Day. Be there!

Trump’s Tariffs Makes the Price of a Coke Go Up. So What Does GDP Growth Mean for Most Americans?

If GDP growth was spread out evenly across the population, every person in your family should have had $4300 more to spend in the last year. Did that happen for you?

Dear Trump supporter:

From now until the November midterms, you are going to hear Trump and the GOP selling you that everything is getting better for you and all Americans citing the GDP, the Gross Domestic Product, as proof. In theory, GDP is the sum of the dollar value of everything made in the US for any given year. In theory, if that GDP number goes up, it should means things are getting better for Americans. The second quarter’s GDP growth was 4.1%. It’s a good number. But does it really mean things are getting better for you?

Let’s take a look at the recent history of published GDP figures.  ( Google GDP and GDP per capita. ) The numbers are in trillions of dollars, which is 1,000 billion.

I also show a line graph which breaks the GDP numbers down to GDP per person. That should be the only important graph to average Americans because it shows how the GDP growth is helping the average American. And it’s not!

You can see that our ability to buy things with this GDP “growth” has been slowly sinking. That’s because our annual inflation usually outruns our GDP growth. Note: Trump’s tariffs are going to accelerate the cost of living and inflation way beyond the 4.1 % reported GDP growth.

GDP

What Do These Graphs Mean?

Though GDP goes up nearly every year since 2000 from 1% to 4%, when you adjust for inflation, cost of living and population growth, the per capita spending power of the average American is on a slow 40 year slide – going back to Reagan. The Clinton economy started very badly, but made a valiant recovery in its last few years resulting in an almost even situation for most Americans. Bush’ s presidency was the worst for most Americans and ended with a depression. Obama’s term made up the slight loss of the Clinton presidency, but what was lost in the Bush years and the years before has not been recovered. And Trump’s presidency has really just begun, so it’s hard to tell if GDP growth is helping most Americans so far. With tariffs and oil prices up, it feels like another economic wash. So let’s look closer.

In Trump’s first two years you can see GDP is up 1.13 trillion dollars. But how does that help you? Divide the GDP growth by the number of people ( man, woman and children)  in the USA. That is 1.13 trillion divided by 300 million. That number is $4300 per person. That means that if GDP growth was spread out evenly across the population, every person in your family should have had $4300 more to spend in the last year. Did that happen for you and yours?

What happens if that $4300 per person money only goes to CEO’s and people like Trump who are already super-rich? The answer is – it does not help you. An increase in GDP only helps the average American if the money is shared with the average American. It’s the degree of GDP profit sharing that measures how economic growth helps the average American. And if the standard of living keeps sinking, clearly that GDP growth still means very little to the average American. And yet, you are going to hear Trump and the GOP going on and on about how wonderful they are making things for average Americans.

Dear Trump supporters, your GOP and president are lying to you. They are pulling the wool over your eyes. Trump has said “They only know what we tell them” and “How stupid are the people of Iowa”. That tells you how much respect he has for you. He still has that casino owner mentality. Everyone is a sucker to Trump, except people richer and more crooked than he is. That’s why he speaks well of dictators like Putin Kim Jong-un.

Trump thinks you are a sucker if you …

  • work for a living and pay your share of taxes
  • enroll your kids in the Armed Forces ( Neither Trump nor his kids enlisted in any form of public service)
  • don’t take advantage of your power and get as much sex and money as you can
  • really care about others. That ” I really don’t care” jacket was a reflection of Trump’s mentality – not Melania’s. She was trolling him. She seems almost decent.
  • respect rules and laws
  • pay people who work for you fairly when you don’t have to
  • go to church and/or pray of be spiritual

Trump does none of  the above and never has. I think even his supporters know that.

The Folly of Deregulation

Another talking point is that Trump is smart for deregulating industry. While I can agree that some regulations are overdone, when regulations force large profit-oriented corporations to keep our common environment clean and safely remove their own wastes – that’s a good thing. Of course, company profits will go up when they can just dump their wastes in a river. But who pays for that clean-up and the resultant health damages to us all? We all do! Future waste clean-up and health costs to humans are not factored into the GDP number.

So the GDP growth number is simply not a true or full measure of the state of health of our economy. It’s just one of many measuring tools. But you will hear the GOP tout GDP growth as something that is good for you. I am just pointing out that when things are really good for you – you will know. We don’t have to be told that X or Y is or will be good for us. We will know in our hearts, minds, spirits and pockets when things get better.

GDP is like a baseball team’s batting average. Higher is generally better.  But without good pitching, defense, and coaching – the team with the most hits does not always win, does it? It’s the final score that matters. GDP does not inform us on how Americans are doing as individuals.

Trump’s Tariffs

Coca-Cola just announced the price of  a Coke is going up because the aluminum cans will cost more due to Trump’s tariffs. The government could have stipulated that the billionaire Coca-Cola Company could not pass the tariff ( a tax ) on to American consumers, but that is not how the GOP or the Trump government operates. They freely let the manufacturers pass their cost increases on to consumers with no oversight. – And that means you and I are paying the tariffs – not the big companies. Further, the tariff money goes directly into Trump’s treasury and does not help the average American at all unless it is shared with them. And that is not being done. What a scam! And then he tries to get his supporters to like the idea of getting no bang for their buck.

We all end up paying for Trump’s tariffs. Further, any self-dealing politician (Trump is not the only one ) with foreign bank accounts can favor this or that industry or company, after they are secretly paid in those accounts. It’s called picking winners. It’s also called graft. I know our American farmers are figuring that out right now. If I had the ability to make one rule to save democracy, it would be to stop the ability of politicians to have secret banks accounts. That’s how the crimes get done.

One thought that occurs to me these days is maybe Russia will be allowed to hack the US Treasury and the banking sector this cycle. It’s certainly do-able. No one is looking that closely. Trump certainly has done nothing to stop Russian hacking. We hear talk about hacking the grid. Is this how Trump will pay Putin back for the election help? Who really knows? We let them have private meetings. How stupid is that? We’d never know from Trump. And you cannot deny he has done little to nothing to stop Russia’s cyber-war efforts.

Dear Trump supporter,

Do not be fooled by the GOP’s GDP victory lap. Unless you experienced a $4300 per person increase in your family’s income, your share of that gain was heavily diluted. The entire GOP effort has been to lower standards for average Americans to benefit the super rich, like the Koch’s and Trump’s. That’s why you see them trying to break up affordable healthcare and lower taxes more on the rich than the poor. Those two efforts should tell you all you need to know.

Trump has been at war with the world since he was a kid. – And he has not outgrown that child within himself. That is his personal struggle. Dear Americans, Trump’s struggle does not have to be ours.

Why Are We Are Gambling With Our Country’s 240 Year-old Democracy?

Citizens. Congresspeople. Do you have this feeling that our president is unstable and may be compromised? Why are we  gambling with our country’s 240 year-old democracy now?

trump-storm8Citizens. Congresspeople. Do you, like me, have this inner sense that our president is unstable and may be compromised? You are not alone. A decent percentage of Americans (and global citizens as well) now share those sentiments.  So why is America gambling with its 240 year-old democracy?

Actuaries and risk managers know “the more one has to lose, the less risk one should be willing to take”. Things we value more we gamble less with. It’s also common sense. So in theory, we should have a very low tolerance for gambling on our democracy.  And yet it feels to many that the GOP Congress is willing to risk it all rather than push for the truth about what the leader of their party did in the election of 2016. And by closing their eyes about 2016 they gamble blindly on what an unethical compromised businessman might do going forward to keep the truth buried.

John Bolton, coming on-board April 9th, seems to be a veiled threat to the citizens of the United States. It seems to say “I can blow this all up, if you come after me.” Trump is assembling a war room, and the targets of his war are justice and democracy

In spite of his words to the contrary, the majority of people in the US now believe Trump’s team did coordinate with the Russians ( and that means Putin) in the 2016 election.  Trump knows if the full truth gets out he may even go to jail. The traitorous act of reaching out to a foreign enemy to affect our elections should inform us that Trump does not care about America or the rule of law and is willing to engage in more traitorous or criminal acts to avoid getting caught.

This is why Trump must now be assured the rule of law applies to him. It’s not as much to get Trump out as to save our country from whatever a criminal might do to hide his crimes and cover his hide. Psychologists, history and common sense inform us that criminals will risk their own lives and the lives of others to not get caught. So its clear, any president under criminal investigation must have his powers checked. And that is what exactly we have here now.

If we lose rule of law, we have lost our democracy.

Some are calling for impeachment. But impeachment is a long process, a national embarrassment and our laws are set up to make it difficult to actually implement. History informs us that Nixon and Clinton were “impeached”, but they did not even pay for their crimes.

Impeachment is a weird word. Why is there a peach in impeachment? I googled the etymology of the word IMPEACH. It stems from IMPEDIMENT, literally to shackle the feet or impede the movement of a leader. So maybe that’s all that needs to be done here. And that does not have to be a long process.

The etymology of impeach (v.) (etymonline.com)
formerly also empeach, late 14c., “to impede, hinder, prevent,” from Anglo-French empecher, Old French empeechier “to hinder, stop, impede; capture, trap, ensnare” (12c., Modern French empêcher),
from Late Latin impedicare “to fetter, catch, entangle,” from assimilated form of in- “into, in” (from PIE root *en “in”) + Latin pedica “a shackle, fetter,” from pes (genitive pedis) “foot” (from PIE root *ped- “foot”). A sense of “shackling the motions” of a corrupt ruler ensued.

Representatives: Americans really don’t care what side of the aisle you are on. We all have families, kids, grand-kids, futures to look forward to, movies to see, etc. Trump is at least potentially compromised and the stakes are simply too high for us to gamble now. Are you willing to risk it all for a man who has a lifelong record of stiffing almost everyone he deals with – wives and family included? If so, your words and actions are being recorded. And the election of 2018 is not far away. The heart of the Blue Wave pumps for the rule of law, democracy and common sense.

Citizens: Shouldn’t we stop gambling with our precious democracy now? We need checks and balances on a president under criminal investigation. That effort can proceed easier and faster than a full impeachment. We need to impede his actions until the full truth comes out. So a few things have to be done – and immediately or asap.

#1 – Congress needs to make it clear Trump cannot start a war without Senate approval. A potentially compromised president should not have unchecked war powers. That is just craziness.

#2 – A bill that ensures that Mueller will not be fired without just cause must be put in place. Trump must know he is not the be all end all in the USA just because he is currently president. In business, Trump never had much regard for the rule of law. But this is our country, not his business. So we have to protect it. We can’y rely on Trump to do this for us. That is a sad statement, but it rings true. Americans cannot currently rely on their president or Congress to protect their interests. They will have to do it for themselves. And that effort has begun. It is the heart of the #VoteThemOut and the #MeToo movements.

With these two steps, we can get to the intention of impeachment, without the rigors of an actual impeachment. – And that may be all we need now.

Remember, Trump’s family life is unwinding. Melania and Baron will be likely gone soon and he knows that. Isolated from family, Trump is becoming a lone wolf and has less to lose by setting the world on fire. Given this situation, Trump having unchecked nuclear power is simply not sane. It is too large of a gamble. The president post is supposed to be there to protect us, not threaten us. He is not functioning in that manner and may not psychologically stable enough to do so.

Character counts: Trump’s affairs should be more than a sign of infidelity to the women who bore his children. Why would someone be faithful to America’s citizens if he can summon no reasons to be faithful to his closest family members?

#3. (Regrettably optional. ) At this point, I simple don’t get why we allow Trump to not show his taxes. That was the original empowerment pass we gave him. I really don’t care about current legality of this. Letting a POTUS not show taxes is not working for us! We need laws that actually work for our citizens.

Trump is in a special unique category now. It may be that our sworn enemy knows the full truth about his crimes and is blackmailing him over that.  GOP members could advocate for having Trump’s taxes revealed for national security reasons. It would actually bolster their party image which has been generally spineless in the face of Russia’s cyber attack. That spineless quality – whether they know it or not – is the heart if the Blue Wave. The majority of Americans don’t feel protected or safe with a Congress that won’t stand up to this president.

Vetting Our Politicians

Eventually we will need a bill that says no one can serve in the Congress, judicial or executive branch without the full release of 5 year’s of taxes and disclosure of any and all foreign bank accounts. if we don’t do this, this will happen again and again. Undeclared foreign bank accounts is exactly how we invite criminal money launderers into our government. They see the dollar signs in government and without full disclosure laws they know they can take bribes and hide them. Public service becomes self-service. This is pure dumbness. I have long said Trump would rather step down rather than show his taxes. If he had to show his taxes to be a candidate, he never would have run in the first place.

In summary: Shackling or impeding will sit better with Trump’s base than impeachment. Impeachment conjures up images of Clinton and Nixon. Trump’s crimes are potentially treasonous and if so, they would be in a vastly different category that the crimes of any previous presidents.

And now, on April 9th, Trump will have a mental body double with his finger on the nuclear codes. This is craziness. We must stop the gambling before 4/9.

And how do we really know PUTIN is not calling all the shots here? Tillerson and Mattis were fired right after they took hard stances against Russia. We don’t know who is calling these shots! Putin rigs his elections, and executes his enemies.  Trump’s ties to Putin are no longer an unsubstantiated theory. What are we waiting for? We are gambling with men who have never been trustworthy. That speaks to Putin and Trump.

Mueller: If you have the goods on Donald J Trump now is the time to release the hounds. Take those bold step before April 9th, when Bolton is scheduled to take office. After that, the world’s madness rating will escalate substantially and the stakes we will be gambling with will be the survival of the American democracy and the fate of mankind.

…….

Joseph Aronesty went to Penn with Trump and knew him from 1967 and 1985 where he worked near him in AC. He was early to say he was working with the Russians, right after Trump said ” Russia if you’re listening”, because he witnessed those Russian mafia connections back in Trump’s casino days. “No way Trump lost that billion in AC. That’s when the foreign bank accounts started.”

PUTIN’S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH: HE KNOWS A DIVIDED COUNTRY IS WEAKENED

Putin is clearly not a friend to democracy. We must treat him as an enemy of democracy and fight back with cyber weapons, the way he fought us. We don’t have a president willing to do that now.

3/18/18 If you missed it, this is Putin’s acceptance speech, translated.

Thank you, my friends. Thank you. We won in an open and fair fight, but this was not just a presidential election. This was also a very important test for all of us, for our whole country. It was a test of our political ripeness, self-sufficiency and independence.

We showed well and truly that no one can impose their will on us. We have showed that our people are truly capable of distinguishing between the thrust for newness and renovation and political provocation that has as its goal only one aim: to demolish Russia and usurp its power. The Russian people declared today that such choices and scenarios will not succeed on our soil.

We won today, and thanks to the support of the overwhelming majority of our electors, we conducted a clean victory. We will work fairly and diligently. And we are calling everyone to come together around the interests of our people and our motherland. I promised you that we would conquer. We have conquered. Long live Russia.

………..

Diagnosis: This is pretty straight-forward.

#1. Putin does have to rebuke the stench of election tampering, just the way Trump does.

#2. Putin clearly states that election tampering will not succeed on Russian soil. We all know its OK with him to tamper in elections that are not on Russian soil, like in the USA and France. An

#3 Putin asks for Russians to come together. He knows a divided country is a weakened country. That is exactly what he is trying to do to democracies in Western countries: divide and weaken or perhaps divide and conquer!

Putin is clearly not a friend to democracy. We must treat him as an enemy of democracy and fight back with cyber weapons, the way he fought us. We don’t have a president willing to do that now. In fact, our current president wanted to get a tower with his name on it built in Moscow, and has plenty of money at risk in undeclared foreign bank accounts. This is money that can be taken from him if he does not play ball with this enemy of democracy. And Trump loves money more than he loves his country or his wives.

The Trump presidency has become a huge problem for our country. Allowing a criminal money launderer to run for president was never a good idea. Going forward we must insist that candidates provide years of tax returns and declare all foreign bank accounts to hold public office. This is why Trump won’t show his taxes. He is and has been a criminal for a long time.

The Cure for America:

Vote out all Trump-aligned politicians in 2018. This is key. Trump and the GOP have about 200 days left to screw up our country. Then, like the Parkland kids say – if they build a wall, we tear it down. If they passed an unfair bill, we undo it. We can undo all the bad things Trump and his party have done to America if we retake the majority in our houses in November. And we can also punish all who colluded with Trump in this criminal coupe of the executive branch and make sure it never happens again.

200 days GOP. Have fun. That’s what your president said when he took office right? We’re going to have some fun with this. Enjoy it while you can. 200 days and you are mostly all gone! And we can all thank Trump for that. If one good thing will come out of the Trump presidency, its going to be him exposing how sick our politics have become and allowing us to recognize our issues.

We have a diagnosis. Our elections were meddled in. The voter’s minds were hacked by a Russian man who has no stake in democracy, because he only remains in power through fascism. The cure for this disease is easy really because the disease is not living in the majority of American people; our greedy elected representatives are the infected ones.

They can be voted out in 200 days.

Two Easy Fixes to Revive Our Dying Democracy

The biggest issue facing the USA today is the ability of elected representatives to get kickbacks through lobbying and potentially hide the money trail via undisclosed foreign bank accounts. So is the real war folks! It’s an internal war. It’s “we the people” vs. “our sold-out representatives” in national government. We have the technology to fix this right now.

Published March 2017 – updated December 2017

If you watch a town hall meeting you can literally see and hear that many of our representatives have no problem lying to our faces. For example, there are countless instances of representatives telling constituents, ” Yes, i agree with you. We should not repeal before we replace”, etc. But then, when you follow their vote, you find they actually voted for repeal. Knowingly saying one thing and doing another is a textbook definition for lying.

And yet, lying to the press or to constituents does not violate any US lawn and maybe it should. These people do swear oaths. Today, these oaths apparently mean nothing. Let’s face it. Our government was formed in the 1700’s.  Words had meanings that were more sacrosanct back then. So let’s get basic on words. I do so love words.

REPRESENTATIVE. Why did the founders use that word and not a word like “Duke”?

An elected “representative” RE-PRESENTS an idea or bill. That means the original idea or bill is not necessarily theirs to create. That task could rightly belong to the constituency – which is all of us – which is what a real democracy should insist on. But to do that, citizens need to be engaged, not so much in government, but in the actual issues!represent

And what actually happens after candidates get elected to office and show up in Washington DC? They quickly discover there is a pre-existing and deeply entrenched system of big business paying big dollars to sitting representatives to get the goals of their big businesses done – and not the goals of their constituents!

Hence, we see the GOP advancing the idea of repealing healthcare, or lowering taxes on big businesses – so they can get their kickbacks – even though these bills are not popular with Americans. It’s clear they don’t care at all about the people they allegedly serve.  And yes, to be fair, there are Democrats that have their kickback issues as well. The human flaw of greed and sexual harassment is not limited to one party.

The biggest issue facing the USA today is the ability of elected representatives to get kickbacks through lobbying and the potential to hide the money in undisclosed foreign bank accounts. Without these kickbacks or graft, as it’s called sometimes, a president like Trump could never have happened.

And unfortunately, the current US president is not only sold out to big business, but also to Russian interests. Why does he not show his taxes? Why does he fight to end the investigation for the FBI? A fish rots from the head. Selling out is rampant and it’s not just the president! It’s our congresspeople and many that work with or for them.

And so, the real goals of the US citizens get totally overlooked. We couldn’t even get gun laws changed after Sandy Hook! What does that say about the people in charge?

Senseless political bickering continues because this is what big business wants. A divided country allows big business to continue doing its thing, taking from the poor, giving to the rich. Big business wants bottom line profit only. They don’t want the common man to get ahead or even to get an education. Stupid consumers are good for big business. So un-christian. So greedy.  And yet, there they sit in Washington, doing their own business, not the people’s business.

And that’s where we are today – and have been here since the 1970’s. Our president embodies the swamp creature that selling out is. But at least, we can at least see the monster clearly now. It’s on TV every day.

This cannot continue. It has to end and end soon. On this, even the Tea Party and I are in lockstep.  Business knows what will happen if consumers get organized. Incomes will get spread around more evenly, and people will be empowered financially and spiritually to strive for more. That’s not the ideal of Wall Street or K-street, so they pit us against each other. FOX vs. MSNBC , etc. It’s getting old.

“Make America Great Again” will only happen when we share more – not less. It’s the spirit of sharing that always made America great. Where has that gone? The biggest lie Trump and the GOP are perpetuating is that by handing funds to the greedy we will all be better off. What a crock. Who believes that anyway?

So the real war we have in the USA is an internal war. It’s “we the people” vs. “our sold-out representatives” in government. So many have to go in 2018.  And yes, they are not all sold out. We can tell who they are by the way they vote. Don’t listen to what they say, watch how they vote. You can Google that on any representative.

But there are the two easy fixes that can save the US democracy. First, we need place to find our common ground.  It exists. I am willing to listen to the opinions of other citizens much more that the opinions of representatives. But where can I have this discussion? Twitter? Facebook? Not the way they are today. We need a real place to have civil discussions and then decide what the majority wants via monthly mock voting on the issues, not on the representatives. In a functioning democracy, reps should just be bots for the majority opinion.

#1 A Perpetual Town Hall. We need an online mock government site for citizens where the issues that need attention are posted. There are spaces for expert opinions, stats, chat rooms, legit advertising (no bot ads) and mock voting on the first Tuesday of every month. This can easily be done by the folks at Google or Facebook.   (That’s a link to my letter to Google. Please check it out too.) But they will need to create sites reserved just for civil political discussions and mock voting.

Once we have our minds made up on the issues, we tell the representative, sworn under oath, to do exactly what we ask them to. If they don’t do what we have chosen, they are breaking their oath and can be fired. This is not hard to do.

#2 We have to end the ability of an elected national representative to have undeclared foreign bank accounts! This is how so many, Trump, Maniford, Wilbur Ross – et. al. find a way to hide their illegal payoffs. How dumb is it that we allow this? Very stupid folks. It has allowed criminals and even spies to get inside our government. It has to end!

This is the only kind of representative governmental system that will actually work in these digital times. All else is doomed to fail owing to the essential greed of human nature. Politicians are human beings and a system must be put in place to curtail their natural human greed.

It will be our fault, not the politician’s fault – if we don’t fix this flaw in the machine we call the US government.

These two simple ideas, once implemented, cannot fail . And it can’t possibly make things worse than what we have now, which is  – “Say what you need to get elected, then do what you want for yourself and friends once elected”.

What are we waiting for? 2018 is coming soon. We have the technology to do this right now.  Will someone with programming skills please set this up ASAP? It feels like a one day job by one smart guy. This would change everything. MockDemocracy.US is available. DemocracyLivesHere.com even better.   TownHall247.com is fine too.

This is a link to another blog on this perpetual town hall idea. If you know someone up the chain at Facebook or Google, please pass the link on.

josepharonesty@gmail.com Get me here. I’ll support this idea with dollars too.

P.S. There is already a political faction called The Pirate Party that advocates for something like this. Google it. Bad name. But they also believe politicians should be bots for our collective desires. After all, the USA is supposed to be a democratic republic. This is exactly what “a government of the people, for the people, by the people” – means.  Think outside the box people! That’s what the founders did. We have to do it again. And we have the technology to do it right now.

Trump Is Weak On _________.

Trump likes to call his opponents weak. Using only his own words as tools, and in less that a year in office, Donald Trump has effectively lost the moral authority needed to govern effectively as an American president. Circulate this meme today: Trump is weak on __________ .

3minutesringRTrump likes to call his opponents weak. It’s getting old, especially from such a weak man.
Using only his own words as tools, and in less that a year in office, Donald Trump has effectively lost the moral authority needed to govern effectively as an American president. Circulate this meme today: Trump is weak on __________ .

Trump is weak on honesty. He lies more than once a day. It’s been proven.
Trump is weak on caring for others. A billionaire who rarely gives to charity.
Trump is weak on brains. His own Secretary of State called him a moron.
Trump is weak on national security. His words provide fuel for our enemies.
Trump is weak on leadership. He does not have the personal qualities to be a leader. We don’t want our kids to grow up to be like Trump and neither do they.
Trump is weak on patriotism. He has a fortune stashed foreign bank accounts.
Trump is weak on morality. He “grabs them by the p…y” because he is a star.
Trump is weak on respecting others. He said “How stupid are the people of Iowa?”
Trump is weak on education for our kids. His Betsy Devos appointee tells us that.
Trump is weak on faithfulness. He used his wives and friends as pawns in his game. When they are no longer useful, he drops them.
Trump is weak on healthcare. He is trying to sink the ACA, by any means possible.
Trump is weak on the environment. The USA and Syria are the only two countries out of the Paris accord.
Trump is weak on women’s rights. He is accused of sexual assaulting over 12 women.
Trump is weak on security.  We all feel less secure with him in the White House.              Trump is weak on fiscal responsibility. We are spending a fortune guarding his many homes, and golf courses and paying for investigations.                                                                Trump is weak on infra-structure. With all the nonsense we are witnessing, we are not getting down to doing the important things we should be doing to make America a better place to live for us all.

Trump is a weakling. The USA can’t afford to have a weakling in office.

To vote Trump out of office, vote his GOP associates out of office at every level. They will catch on – and show him the exit door.

Sexual Disposition and Job Performance Do Not Necessarily Correlate

In most cases, how we deal with our varied sexual dispositions does not “have to” impact the way we approach our daily jobs. For example, John Kennedy is generally thought to have been a great president, and yet it is well known that he had affairs. However …

mooreI’ve been thinking about the rash of sexual allegations that has erupted against men in positions of power and public service. This is my take on it all.

In a lifetime, we all have many different roles to play: child, friend, student, parent, worker, spouse, player, etc. And one of those roles is our personal sexual stance. It usually occupies no more than a few hours a week of activity, with much more time spent thinking and fantasizing about it all.

Our sexual tastes are basic, primal, and largely beyond our control. And we play our sexual roles only during limited times when those primal desires well up in us.

Etymological and philosophical aside: The “x” at the end of the word “sex” literally depicts the connection, the crossing or juncture between two people. Sexual appetite drives the engine that populates the world. Many of us would not be here today had it not been for some weird sexual encounter that took place perhaps a thousand years ago. So unless we are speaking about forced unwanted sex, it’s really hard for me to be too critical of the myriads of various sexual encounters on planet earth.

Further, in most cases, just how we deal with our varied sexual dispositions does not have to impact the way we approach our daily jobs. For example, John Kennedy is generally thought to have been a great president, and yet it is well known that he had affairs. And yes, there are plenty of functioning people in politics, business and even military service who happen to be gay – and that does not correlate with their job performances. Sexual stance and job performance – simply put  – do not correlate.

However, a damning line can be crossed. A hard line exists when one person uses superior strength to force unwanted sexual relations – or a position of power or drugs to induce sex that would not be wanted in a clear state of mind. Those transgressions should be treated as crimes because they are crimes. But crimes also have statutes of limitations – and for good reasons. And yes, 40 years is too late to indict for a non-murder crime. That is the law and it appears to be a good one.

Can a person who has a fetish for 15 year old girls at the age of  32 return to a job at age of 70 – and do it well? Honestly, that answer has to be yes. If we are talking about situations where the female had at least some complicity in the arrangement, unless there was forced sex ( which is rape and a crime for sure ) there’s just not a one-to-one relationship between whatever happened during fleeting private moments – and one’s ability to do a job well – the very next day.

So even though I find what Roy Moore did 40 years ago deplorable ( a proper use of that word at last ) if I were running against him I would not overplay that hand. After-all, I don’t think at the age 70 Roy Moore is a danger to teenagers.

I would much prefer that Doug Jones make his cases against Roy Moore on his record and the way he will do his job as a senator. I would advice Doug Jones to attack Roy Jones not for 40 year old sexual allegations – but for these reasons:

  • Moore is a climate denier
  • Moore does not respect gay people and their rights
  • Moore has nationalistic, racist and tribal positions on immigration
  • Moore wants to repeal the ACA
  • Moore advocates for trickle-down
  • Moore stands with Donald Trump
  • Moore favors cutting funding for public schools and promoting charter schools, vouchers, tax credits, home schooling, and Christian schools
  • Moore opposes abortion, same-sex marriage, and civil unions
  • Moore wants to defund Planned Parenthood

There is plenty to campaign against there. And Doug Jones must also explain why he will be better for Alabamans.

I really think we should get a lot of these sexual allegations off the front pages of the our papers and broadcasts – and asap. They are largely distractions. There’s not much meat on those bones. They just involve fleeting personal relations and yes – weaknesses – but between two people. Gun rights, healthcare, tax fairness, clean air and water, Trump’s impulsiveness – these issues involve us all. That’s what governing is all about, right?

Let’s focus. These sexual stories are sucking up too way much oxygen and causing us to lose focus on the many larger, more important issues we must deal with … right now.
